Fairies (or, alternately, faeries) were magical winged creatures who existed during the New Age.  They were distinct from Pixies and significantly smaller than Butterfly People.  Some cultures, like that of humans, believed them to be mythical, telling ostensibly ficticious stories about them called "fairy tales."  This tended to upset the real-life fairies like you wouldn't believe.

Faeries could communicate with each other telepathically.  Faerie magic was limited to their influence over the flora and fauna of the realm.  They were not particularly threatening, unless you had reason to fear an acorn suddenly falling on your head or a squunck prancing right up and peeing on you.

The Lost Treasure of Torlynn[]

After being revived by Mariposa, a wounded and confused Four mistook her for a fairy.  He had never seen a butterfly person before, so the mistake was, perhaps, understandable.  After being taken to the Torlynn tournament arena, Mariposa was likewise referred to by the announcer as a "Butterfly Fairy," a patent misnomer.

The Quest for the World-Breaker[]

Having read about Four's adventures from Christabel's journal, Mirabel was impressed that Four had encountered "dragons and faeries and giant potato bugs," though the entry was more likely about pixies.

The Curse of the Fate Shifter[]

After the drunken Mariposa exposed her true butterfly nature to a group of human patrons at a tavern in Frontwater, one of them concluded that she was, in fact, a fairy.

When Rouge mistook Wazzipaloo for a Faerie, Wazzipaloo assured her that Faeries were "disgusting creatures" who transformed glass slippers into pumpkins and stole your teeth when you weren't watching.

Some of the Elf lore that Mariposa gleaned from the mind of Arienne included stories about Faeries.

The Dwarves aboard the Giant war machine used captured Faeries to keep in communication with one another, using them to relay telepathic messages to the different sub-sections of the tremendous machine.  When attempting to infiltrate and sabotage the Giant, Syzygy theorized that stopping the Faerie in the Giant's head from relaying messages from the command center should stop the machine.

The Veil of Souls[]

Mirabel Miller mistook Wazzipaloo for a Faerie after accosting and stunning her in unctual year 3894.

Arienne once spoke of the importance of locating the keystone scepter and protecting the helpless Faeries and Pixies and Nymphs from the sorceress Deorwynn.
