Porticus Umbra was a mining colony existing in Novapangaea during the New Age.  The town was in the center of the Shadow Mountains, surrounded by the mountains on all sides, and had been constructed on top of Terra's Navel.  A highly reclusive colony, the colonists mined and processed the rich deposits of elementium found within the mountains.  They did not barter or trade with other towns.  A perimeter wall had been erected around the town, but it was largely decorative.  They did have several counteraction trebuchets at their disposal, however.

A gigantic statue named Lady Divinity, constructed from elementium, was in the center of town.

In unctual year 3894, the crew of the castle-ship Endeavor visited Porticus Umbra in order to secure the fabled sunstone.  They offered a mechanical wind-up doll to the lord of the town, the Duke of Monticello, but he got bored with it and threw it in the garbage.  Later, Endeavor itself entered the town and struck Lady Divinity with its anchor in order to loosen the sunstone.

The thunder dragon Dreadnaught arrived in the town shortly thereafter, seemingly drawn by the presence of the castle-ship.  The dragon attacked the town, destroying buildings with its lightning breath.

Soldiers and archers from the town responded with trebuchets, but Endeavor scooped up its crew members and escaped into the sky.

The incident at Porticus Umbra eventually garnered the attention of a small group of graduates from Arkingston Military Academy, who attempted to intercept the Endeavor at Wyvern's Nest to put a stop to their marauding.

Trivia[]

The name Porticus Umbra is Latin for "shadow gallery."
